Terms of Use

Edit Me F.A.S.T.® (www.editmefast.com) is a sole proprietorship owned and operated by Matthew Jacob. A proofreading service, editing service and book editing service are offered.

The customer contacts us via email at editmefast@gmail.com. They may request a free quote and/or an invoice. The quote consists of the actual job cost plus processing fee. If the customer accepts the quote, they need to let us know that they wish to use our services, and we will send them a PayPal invoice via email. Once the invoice has been paid, we will begin working on their document. When we are finished working on the document, we will send it back to the customer by the deadline previously agreed upon. The customer is then free to ask us questions about the changes and comments we made within their document.

If after agreeing on a deadline with a customer and beginning work on their document it becomes apparent that we will not be able to complete the editing and/or proofreading before the deadline because of unanticipated setbacks, such as document formatting and the need for additional work that was not apparent when giving the customer a quote, the customer understands and agrees that we are permitted to contact them within a reasonable amount of time and not be held responsible for being unable to complete the job.

Editing and proofreading are necessary and complex parts of the writing process. The proofreading service, editing service and book editing service aren’t exact sciences – that is, there is a high degree of subjectivity involved – and different editors and proofreaders have different styles, writing tendencies and approaches to their work. Therefore, our service may differ from the service of another editing service or proofreading service. And because proofreading and editing are not exact sciences, we cannot guarantee that our editing and proofreading will be completely free of errors or exactly to your liking in terms of writing style. We do our due diligence for each document we work on, but we cannot guarantee an error-free document.

Edit Me F.A.S.T.® is not legally obligated to refund payment for any service performed for a customer. By engaging our services, you agree to not pursue legal action against Edit Me F.A.S.T.® or Matthew Jacob in the event that you are not satisfied with our work. You also agree to not pursue legal action against Edit Me F.A.S.T.® or Matthew Jacob in the event that you incur any damages or loss, whether it’s of a financial nature or any other type of damages or loss, as a result of using our services.

If for any reason the customer is not satisfied with the service provided and we determine that we are at fault, we will do whatever we can to rectify the problem. The customer must notify us of their complaint at editmefast@gmail.com within five (5) business days of receiving the edited or proofread document. If the customer does not contact us within five (5) business days, we consider the job order to be complete and the service(s) we performed to be acceptable to the customer.

If the customer makes changes and requests a second edit of the same piece of writing, a discount editing rate will be charged. If the customer requests a proofread of these changes, a discount proofreading rate will be charged. If the customer requests editing or proofreading of new writing, the regular editing rate or proofreading rate will be charged. Please contact us for more information about discount rates.

Before engaging our services, it is important for you to understand what you would be getting. Our services are intended to help the customer make their document the best it can possibly be. We use our proofreading expertise to catch and correct spelling, punctuation and grammar errors, and we use our editing expertise to polish your writing, improve your ideas and provide comments and suggestions for your consideration to further improve your writing. Each service, especially the editing service, is highly subjective, and so by engaging our services, you indicate your understanding that our work may differ from another editor’s or proofreader’s work.

Whenever we send you the edited or proofread document, it is our expectation that you will review the document in its entirety before using it – that is, before submitting it to a professor, employer, or publisher, or to anyone else who has an interest in your writing.

For our editing and proofreading changes, it is important that you review them using Microsoft Word’s Track Changes tool and accept, reject or ignore them. It is also important that you read the entire document to make sure the style and writing tendencies we used in making the changes are suitable to you. In other words, it is your responsibility to make sure that you are satisfied with all of our changes.

For our comments that may include questions and/or suggestions, it is your responsibility to review and consider each and every one of them. While we do make many editing changes to your document ourselves, some ideas we have are discussed in comments, so some of our comments require action by you. Again, it is your responsibility to review the entire document before using it.

We do not purport to be experts in any particular fields of study. We simply offer our editing and proofreading expertise to our customers in order to improve their writing. Matthew Jacob, the owner of Edit Me F.A.S.T.®, is a graduate of Lehigh University. We do not guarantee that by using our services you will be admitted into a particular school, be hired for a particular position, have your work published, or experience any type of gain, financial or otherwise.

Edit Me F.A.S.T.® is not a fact-checking service. While we will do our due diligence to ensure the consistency of information throughout your document, we do not fact check. Edit Me F.A.S.T.® also will not verify the spelling or usage of non-English words. It is the customer’s responsibility to verify their spelling and usage.

Numbers are proofread for correct punctuation (commas, periods, dollar signs, etc.) at the same rate as regular proofreading of written text. If you wish for the numbers within your document, such as in a chart, not to be proofread, please indicate that when contacting us.

The customer maintains all of the rights to their document throughout the editing and proofreading processes, as well as after they have been completed; that is, we make no claim to the rights of the document. We also have no publishing interest in the customer’s document; for example, if the customer engages our services for work on a book or other kind of manuscript, the customer owes us no royalty for any profits earned from the sales of that document. We are entitled only to compensation for our work (editing and/or proofreading) on the document.

Maintaining the safe keeping of your document once we send you the edited and/or proofread copy is your responsibility. We save all emails that contain customers’ documents for at least 30 days in case they misplace their copy or the file becomes corrupted for whatever reason, but again, it is not our responsibility to keep backup copies of customers’ documents. We recommend saving and sending your document to multiple email accounts each time you make changes to it in order to ensure that you always have a backup of the current copy. We also recommend saving copies on a memory stick and/or an external hard drive.

Edit Me F.A.S.T.® reserves the right to refuse service to any potential or current customer at any time. If while editing or proofreading your document the editor becomes uncomfortable with the subject matter, work on your document will cease and you will be refunded the cost for the unedited portion of your document via PayPal.

For larger documents, Edit Me F.A.S.T.® reserves the right to require the customer to sign a contract stipulating the terms of editing or proofreading for their particular project. Edit Me F.A.S.T.® will also consider signing a contract drafted by the customer, but is not obligated to do so. Edit Me F.A.S.T.® requires full payment for their services prior to beginning work, unless an alternative arrangement has been made on a case-by-case basis at the sole discretion of Edit Me F.A.S.T.®

Please review our Privacy Policy.
